The Zoo

Rick, Cruz and I eventually made our way to the Saskatoon zoo this afternoon. After an early morning of a cranky baby, we were ready to get out of the house and try to enjoy the beautiful weather we had today.
At first Cruz didn't really understand what was happening. He was just enjoying his stroller ride, eating his cheerio's. But after we pulled his stroller up beside some loud canadian geese, he finally started to enjoy the scenery and look around and smile at everything. It was pretty fun! The zoo here doesn't have a lot of exciting animals, but it's still fun to get there and check them out anyways. There are peacocks and canadian geese that randomly wander the place. A few geese were ballsy enough to hiss at us and scare me, but I found hissing back made me feel better.
One of the funniest things at the zoo was the location of 2 of the exhibits. There was a sheep exhibit directly across from the lion exhibit. The lioness was literally pacing her cage, eye balling the mocking, bleeting sheep from across the lane. It was too funny!
A few other high lights included watching Rick feed the geese by hand and getting bitten 3 times. You'd think he would have learned the first 2 times! Also watching the elk run around their pen. Normally they just lay there, so it was neat to actually see them active. We were searching everywhere for the bears, and once we did find them, they were just sleeping in the middle of their pen. Very boring!
One of the neat things about the zoo is that Rick's grandpa used to live and farm right on the land where the zoo is built, so Rick pretty much literally grew up at the zoo. He'd run around and harass the peacocks and pull their feathers (he'd get in trouble for it later) and he'd throw water in the badger holes to get them out and watch the monkey's throw feces at the windows... It was hard for him to resist wanting to go after the peacocks while we were there. Thankfully he resisted and just took pictures of them instead!
